Every new beginning starts at an end.
After
being devastated by much tragedy
and conflict, Vietnam has started to rebuild its glory as a country
which shows promise in becoming a stunning tourism spot in Asia.
Historical sites are being restored, the country's economy is
flourishing, and the infrastructure for tourism is developing rapidly.
The traditional customs and culture, everyday life-style and preserved
war relics have been transformed into attractions for tourists.
Vietnam is located in Southeast Asia, bordering the Gulf of Thailand,
Gulf
of Tonkin, and the South China Sea. Its “S-shaped” land extends into two
climatic zones with moderate to cooler climate in the North, and
tropical heat in the South.
The country is further divided into five land regions. The mountainous
terrain of the North; the Red River Delta; the Annamite Mountain Range
connecting north and south Vietnam; the narrow coastal strip between the
Annamite Mountain Range and the South China Sea; and lastly, the Mekong
Delta in the southern part of the country.
Mainly a mountainous country, Vietnam is home to the Hoang Lien
Mountains where the country’s highest peak, Fan Si Pan (3,143m above sea
level) may be found. The Truong Son Mountains (on the Annamite
Cordillera) which form the Central Highlands can be found running almost
the whole length of the country.

Vietnam Northern Mountains
Both North and South regions are home
to large rivers, the Red River and Mekong River respectively.
The mountain trails are made up of complex systems of jungle paths
winding down through the eastern mountains of Laos, frequently looping
over the border with Vietnam.
Formerly used as trading routes by indigenous people trading in gold and
opium with China, Vietnam’s mountain passes became infamous first during
the struggle for independence from the French and then again during the
Vietnamese War.
Arms and personnel were smuggled between North and South Vietnam along
these routes, which were heavily bombed by the Americans, only to be
re-built at night by the Vietcongs.
With its inherent natural beauty, rich historical significance and lush
mountains and coastlines, Vietnam is unquestionably a very bankable
Asian tourist destination.
