Yes, for the first time in sunny
Singapore, there is snow! Set up by the Singapore Science Centre and
NTUC Income, Snow City introduces the concept of snow and cold climates
in a fun, entertaining and educational way.

At Snow City, you can ski, snow board or snow tube your way down a
snow-covered slope. Enjoy snowball fights and learn about life in colder
climates. Or just walk about, touch and play with “real snow” created
with the help of specially-designed snow guns.
Snow City is a 3,000 square meter center with facilities spread over 2
stories. Of this, a 1,200 square meter snow covered area is called the
Snow Chamber. Here, you can snow tube, snowboard or ski your way down
this “giant snow slide”.
The Snow Chamber is constantly maintained at -5°C. Separating these
areas from the non-snow areas is an airlock area which helps visitors
moving from different temperatures be acclimatized.
Upon entering Snow City, a friendly reception area welcomes visitors.
Nearby, there is a snack counter and arcade games. Upon payment of
admission ticket, you can proceed to the winter gear counter and the
Changing Area.

The Air Lock is maintained at 10°C and is your gateway to the snow
covered areas of Snow City. Inside, a short animated video entertains
you while you gradually get used to the colder temperature. When the
video ends, you are now ready to step out into the snow.
Upon leaving the airlock, visitors are greeted by snow and more snow!
Hand-painted alpine and polar scenes on the surrounding walls enhance
that winter experience.
The 60-metre-long and 14° slope extends the entire length of the
building, with the gradient sloping from ground level to almost 3
stories high at the top. Walkways on both sides of the slope provide
easy access to the top.
Fun seekers can slide down the slope in many different ways. The most
popular activity is "snow tubing”, where visitors sit on inflatable snow
tubes and slide down the icy slope. This fun experience is enjoyed by
adults and kids alike. Certain times are allocated for the more
adventurous who wish to ski or snowboard.
Helmets are provided for children, as a precautionary measure, before
they snowtube down the slope.

Snowball fights, makeshift igloos, snow men and snow angels decorate the
scene at the Snow-Play Area which is found on one side of the slope.
The Arctic Explorer, designed to look like a ship half-struck in ice, is
really a children's slide with play tunnels in disguise. There is even
an igloo for children to explore and play inside of.
The Sub-Zero Exhibition Area combines interactive displays with games
and films illustrating cold temperature science and aspects of living in
the cold-climate. There is even a “hot house room” that simulates the
greenhouse effect as a comparison to the all-cold snow attractions.
Other features to look out for include the Giant Thermometer that shows
temperature changes when visitors clutch the giant bulb. Of course,
visitors should also not miss the life-sized model of the lege ndary
Yeti, the Abominable Snowman.
Proceeding to Level 2, you will find the Function Room and Alpine Lodge.
The 160 m2 Function Room is a multi-purpose room, which can be used to
conduct educational programs, seminars, meeting place and other fun
ideas to conduct games for family days and corporate function.
Set in an alpine and rustic ambience, the Alpine Lodge is an ideal place
to wine & dine, or hold your corporate parties - even birthday parties
too! Plus, you can catch a magnificent view of the Snow Slope through
our all-glass viewing gallery, while lounging in the warmth and comfort
of the lodge.
So, do not get left out in the cold. Step into Snow City today!
