East Coast Park

Considered to be among the best beaches in Singapore, the East Coast Park stretches for more than 10 kilometers (6miles) along the coast starting at Changi Airport up to Marina Bay.

Visitors to the Park are treated to the tranquil sight of gently swaying palm trees lining the sea front with a scattering of park benches and shady rest stops for joggers and people who feel the need the sit for a while after a walk along the shore.

There are also plenty of walking and jogging paths for people who would like to get some exercise and stretch their legs. For the young and young at heart, there are also cycling and in-line skating tracks and rinks which may be found along the park with bicycle choices ranging from the standards bikes, to racers, mountain bikes, and tandem bikes for couples. In-line skating has also become such a popular activity that there is also an in-line skate rental and repair store on the Park.

Various café kiosks and snack shops offer a wide choice of refreshments and shady rest stops after a day of exercise and tangy sea air.

Lining the breakwater, fishing enthusiasts can spend lazy hours with their rods while picnickers can pitch tents on the beach; health buffs can work out at the outdoor fitness stations; and bird watchers can take a walk through designated bird sanctuaries.

The pleasing sea breeze and scenic views on the East Coast make it a fashionable place to live. The area as wee-provided with bars, chic restaurants and a host of recreational facilities.

The mouth-watering smells of the many different foods being offered at the sea side eateries tempt tourists to indulging a bit of afternoon snacking with choices ranging from fast food and hawker fare to seafood and Western snacks.

At the East Coast Recreation Center, there is a wide range of indoor activities tourists and weekenders may choose from, such as bowling, snooker and, for those with kids, board games and junior play areas in addition to other children’s games are provided at the center. For outdoor sports, the Europa Sailing Center offers windsurfing and sailing. Facilities and courts for tennis players and golfers are also available.

Holiday chalets can be rented for short-term stays. These resorts on the beach front offer integrated facilities such as spas, swimming pools and barbecue pits.
Weekends see many families driving up to the Park for a few days of relaxation and stress relief from the daily grind of city life.
