Here are some of the most
popular tourist destinations tourists may want to include in
their itineraries on their visit to the Philippines:
Mayon Volcano
- Bicol, Albay
Standing at 7,946 feet and
made famous by its near perfect cone shape, Mayon is considered to
be the country's most active volcano, with its last eruption being
in February of 2000.
On viewing this majestic
mountain, it can get kind of hard to imagine that such a serene
landscape could hide a bubbling inferno beneath its tranquil
surface. Found near the foot of the volcano, the lonely church
steeple at Cagsawa Ruins stand as silent witness to the fury
unleashed by the volcano in its most devastating eruption in 1814
which destroyed the towns of Camalig, Cagsawa and Budiao.

Taal Volcano -
Batangas
Acknowledged
as the world's smallest active volcano, Taal volcano is best seen
from view decks at Tagaytay City. Tourists who would like to
see the volcano up close may hire bancas or boats from
Talisay, Batangas to take them across the lake. Found in the crater
of Taal volcano is another lake. Another notable feature of Taal is
the lake found inside the volcano's crater, which makes it a "lake
in a lake."

Banaue Rice Terraces
- Banaue
The Banaue Rice Terraces,
eighth wonder of the world and "stairway" to the heavens. Carved
into the mountain side by the Filipino native Ifugaos, the terraces
are built entirely out of mud and ricks which are fitted tightly to
form the walls of each terrace. January to May are good months to
visit when the rice fields are golden and the tribe prepares for
harvest season.
