Title: "Where to stay in Kubah"
About: Travel and Tourism Malaysia

For that optimum experience and high-value visit to the Kubah National Park, it is highly recommended for visitors advised to spend the night at accommodations which may be found in the Park.

Bookings can be made at the Visitors’ Information Center in Kuching.

Kubah Park Headquarters: Double-Storey Bungalows RM 180 per house (kitchen, 2 bedrooms (6 beds), air-con, TV, hot water and verandah). Resthouses RM 120 per house (3 bedrooms (12 beds), fan and common cooking facilities). Hostel Units : 2-bed room RM 20, 4-bed room RM 40, 6-bed room RM 60 (per room, fan, common kitchen & bathroom facilities).

Matang Wildlife Center: Chalets (2-bedroom, 4 beds) RM 120 per house. 8-room Hostel, RM 40 per room (4 beds), Campsite RM 4 per tent.

Park Fees: Entry - RM 3 (adult), RM 1 (child), camera permit RM 5, video camera permit RM 10. The fee covers both the national park and the wildlife centre.

To get there: Kubah is only 21 km from Kuching while the Matang Wildlife Center is 35 km from town. Travel agents can arrange tours to the park, or take Matang Transport Co. bus No. 11 or a local mini-bus.

Bus 11 passes the Kubah Park headquarters but it does not go all the way to Matang Wildlife Center.

If you are heading to Matang Wildlife Center ask to be dropped off at the turning for the Polytechnic. You may be in for a long wait for regular bus services to the Wildlife Center have yet to be put in place.

Local mini-buses (bas sewa) serve the villages in the Matang area but the service is irregular. If fate should smile on you and you do see a small white bas sewa, flag it down and ask the driver to drop you off at the Center. The only other alternative is to try and hitch a ride. The one-way taxi fare is RM 30-35 - negotiate a ‘wait and return fare or arrange a pick up time. Alternatively, local tour operators run day trips to both the National Park and the Wildlife Center.
